NORTHEASTERN GIRL SELECTED FOR INDIAN SUPER DANCER DAPHISA KHARBANI.

Daphisha is as beautiful as a dancer as is her native city of Shillong. She belonged to Mawlai, Mawiong in Shillong and got famous through the dance reality show Dance India Dance. She participated in the sixth season of the show. Paran Devo, Alphans Chetty, Sachin SharmaSanket GaonkarNainika Anasuru, and Piyush Gurbhele were some of the other contestants. The show got mentored by Mudassar Khan, Marzi Pestorji, and Mini Pradhan. She got trained by Mudassar khan and was in his team called “Mudassar Ki Mandali.” Amruta Khanvikar and Sahil Khattar hosted the Dance show and Sahil Khattar. Mithoon Chakraborty was the master judge.

She did her studies from St Joseph’s School and then went to Church of God Higher Secondary School for intermediate in Mawlai. Daphisha had a tough childhood as her mother raised her who was a businesswoman and because of that, she couldn’t take any professional classes in dance. She learned everything by herself and watching her elder sister. Her sister trained Daphisha for four years, after which she auditioned for Dance India Dance. She practiced for more than eight hours of a day to ace her skills. She put all her energies into Dancing, and one day it paid her off well. She was also part of the show ‘Dance plus,’ aired on Star Plus. She was in the top twelve contestants of the show.






It judged by Remo D’Souza. Dharmesh YelandeShakti Mohan, and Punit Pathak were the captains on board. This show took place in the year 2017. She was much praised by the judges, especially by Remo D’Souza in the show. Daphisha is a superb performer. Contemporary and Jazz dance styles are her forte. She gave two days workshop with Saarthak Dance Institute in 2018. She also took a workshop in Silchar and was the judge at the Khalsa Sports And Cultural Association. Her name got involved in the dispute going on in Meghalaya between the government and AMDA(All Meghalaya Dance Association) where the artist demanded a meeting with the chief minister to talk on the issues of establishment of a dance academy in the state and to fund artists to go out and perform. AMDA denied permission to meet the chief minister thrice on which all the artists including Daphisha came together and threatened to go on a hunger strike if there cry went unheard this time also.
